Today is my first Wednesday off in several months. I'm typically on Monday- Thursday. So, wanting to take full advantage of a whole day to spend with my favorite guy on this planet- my son Maddox- I hopped out of bed to get my workout done. Wednesdays are my day off on my TurboFire program (which I LOVE), but not wanting to get out of the habit, I decided to do a light workout- TurboFire Fire 30.
On normal weekdays, I have to wake my son up to get him ready for the babysitter at 8:00am, but thanks to Murphy's Law, he was up today at 7:15am, about 5 minutes into my workout. Lucky for me, he is usually able to hang out in his room for 20-30 minutes before he starts destroying things. I made it to the last 5 minutes before he started going postal- and had my daughter, Emily go fetch him. After what sounded like a battle scene from 300, I realized that I would have to cut the end off my workout and go help my daughter. One bowl of cereal later, and Maddox was human again.
After a very brief shower (as least I got the sweat off) and a quick dressing session- we were on our way to Lowes Foods for apples, bananas, strawberries and coffee- you know, the essentials. They have the tiny little carts at Lowes for kids with a little flag on top that says "customer in training". I wish I had a picture to share with you, but I had to continually prevent Maddox from running into bystanders with said cart. We made it through the store in record time and we were back home within 20 minutes. As soon as we walked through the door, Maddox immediately asked for strawberries. I of course obliged and decided to have a bowl of strawberries (with Splenda sprinkled on top for me) with him. So we sat for 10 minutes eating our strawberries and talking. Apparently, 3 year olds do have a lot to talk about.
It's only 10:30am and already my day has been filled with so many blessing. Most importantly, I woke up this morning. I was able to workout and work up a good sweat, which is great for my body and my weight loss journey. I was blessed to be able to share a bowl of strawberries with my son- who will eventually no longer be willing to eat anything with me, much less talk. I am very thankful today for all the small blessing in my life.
OH and before I forget- I registered for my 5k on June 2 this morning too...(insert dramatic gasp here)...
