2 weeks to 5k?!

Planning to run my first 5k on June 2, 2012. Sounds like an awesome idea, right? I workout pretty much everyday doing at least 45 mins of cardio, I eat healthy and I like to run (or at least I use to). Plus, I use to run 3 miles everyday like 6 years ago! So, I decided 2 days ago that I should probably start training- better late than never. Around my small neighborhood is .6 miles. I think to myself that a few trips around will be a great start. I elicit my brother to go with me and keep me company and keep my motivated. We walk the first few steps and start with a light jog. Not even halfway around, I'm panting. We stop, I guzzle water and we start again. We go another few yards, I stop again , guzzle more water. We are literally right by my house, I can run the last little bit. We start running and I feel a wave of nausea come over me.....I have to stop. SO, in conclusion- my endurance is awful and I shouldn't have waited so long to start training. Moral of the story- I am still going to do the 5k, not because I want to win, but because it's a goal I set for myself and even if I have to crawl across the finish line- I'm going to reach that goal. HOWEVER- next 5k, I will properly condition myself!
